Custom Patio Covers
Custom Patio Covers in Houston, TX
Solid roof patio covers built over your slab for full shade and a dry place to sit when the weather turns. Family owned for 35+ years and fully insured.
Shade That Stays
Full Shade Over Your Patio, Rain or Shine
Houston weather takes the back patio away from you twice over. The sun cooks the slab from spring to fall, then an afternoon storm rolls in and moves everybody indoors. Most of the year that space sits unused.
A patio cover is a solid roof built out over the patio. It can tie into the back of the house or stand on its own in the yard. You get shade all day, cover when it rains, and a real outdoor room instead of a bare slab.
- Yours can tie into the back of the house or stand on its own out in the yard
- Columns are sized and styled so the cover suits the house rather than fighting it
- An insulated roof is an option, and it keeps both the heat and the rain noise down
- Ceiling fans, lighting and gas lines are far easier to run while the roof is going up

What It Costs
What Affects Your Patio Cover Price
We price covers at the house. Size, material and how the roof ties into the house decide most of the price.
Patio Size
Covering one seating area costs less than roofing the whole slab. Square footage drives most of the total.
Roof and Materials
A solid roof, an insulated roof and an open top all price differently. Your consultant lays the options out side by side.
Attached or Freestanding
Tying the roof into the house is different work than setting a standalone structure out in the yard.
Fans, Lights and Gas
Ceiling fans, lighting, custom columns and a gas line for a grill each add to the base price.

Common Questions
What People Ask About Patio Covers
What exactly is a patio cover?
It’s a roof built out over your patio. It can attach to the house or stand on its own, and it comes in a range of materials, styles and sizes. We size and shape it around the slab you already have.
How is it different from a pergola?
A patio cover has a solid roof, so it blocks the sun and keeps the rain off. A pergola top is open, so light and weather come through. Pick the cover if you want the patio usable in a downpour.
Can you add ceiling fans and lighting?
Yes. Fans keep the heat moving and lighting makes the space work after dark. It’s far easier to run the wiring while the roof is going up than to add it later.
Does a patio cover add value?
It adds usable living space, and in Houston that’s a real selling point. It also keeps the sun and rain off your patio furniture, so the furniture lasts longer. How much it adds comes down to how well it’s built.
Can it go over my existing patio?
That’s how most of ours are built. We check the slab, the drainage and the footing options during the in home visit, then design the cover around what is already there.
How do I pick the right one?
Think about your budget, the size of the patio, the weather it has to stand up to, and the style of your house. Our consultants walk you through all four at the free visit.
Do I need a permit for a patio cover?
Usually yes, and especially when the cover ties into your existing roof. The rules change from city to city, so we check the ones for your address and pull the permit ourselves. That’s part of every job.
FAQ
More Patio Cover Answers
Can a patio cover tie into my existing roofline?
Usually yes, and that’s the look most homeowners want. We study the roofline, the pitch and where the water runs during the in home visit, then design the cover so it reads as part of the house.
What does an insulated roof actually do?
It keeps heat from pouring off the roof onto the people under it, so the space stays more comfortable in July. It also knocks down the drumming sound when the rain comes in hard.
Can you run a gas line for an outdoor kitchen?
Yes. Gas lines, extra outlets and other utilities are easiest to run while the cover is being built. Tell us at the consultation what you plan to put underneath and we’ll plan for it.
Do I need HOA approval to add one?
Plenty of Houston area neighborhoods ask for sign off before you add a structure out back. Start that early. We’ll hand you the drawings and the details your HOA wants to see.
